So by this now, I guess you may be wondering why I have a picture of Paris, France, at the top of the blog? It is simple, at the age of 16, I fell in love with the city after watching the movie Gigi. It is my most favorite movie in the whole wide world. The film was released in 1958 with an all-star cast; Leslie Caron, Louis Jordan, Maurice Chevalier, Hermione Gingold, Eva Gabor and Isabel Jeans. Judy Garland’s ex-husband Vincente Minnelli directed the film, who also directed Leslie Caron in her first American film, an American in Paris.
I am a hopeful (hopeless) romantic and to me, this movie showcases romance at its finest. I won’t go into great details about the film. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend it if you are a romantic. The movie is about two people who are the most likely to be together, has romance, comedy, conflict, etc.
I loved this movie so much that I would not walk my friend to the door until intermission. And even then, I rushed them to the door and quickly went back to the movie. I didn’t know when it would come back on and I wasn’t about to miss a single scene. Let’s just say they weren’t too happy with me. But I didn’t care. I wanted to finish the movie.
I fell in love with the Sein river as well as the beautiful garden and fountain. Just under a year later, when we were able, my husband, my ten-month-old and I went to Paris, France and we searched until we found what we believe was used for the fountain and garden scenes. When we had our first child, the entire pregnancy, I was calling my daughter, Sierra but by the time she was born, I named her Paris, which is so me, but that is a story for another day.
Do you have a story to tell about a movie, a book or something else?
Thanks for stopping by.
